Katie: Eva Mendes Collection - Maria Jacquard Dress - New York and Company
Yellow Headscarf - Vintage | Bow Flats - Target | Cherry Brooch - Luxulite

Amanda: Eva Mendes Collection - Julianne Sleveless Dress - New York and Company
Casablanca Sandal - New York and Company | Bracelets + Earrings - Splendette

Usually when we go to the mall we bee line straight to the food court to buy a pretzel or to cry over how beautiful Kate Spade purses are.  Luckily, one day Amanda stumbled into New York and Company and instantly started texting me pictures of how beautiful Eva Mendes' Collection is.  The collection features so many of the things we look for in vintage repro, which took us majorly off guard.  The fact that we could walk into a store and find beautiful dresses with fruit print AND they fit us? What alternate dimension is this??  Not to mention the abundance of elegant floral prints, this adorable lipstick novelty print, sheer blouses and stripes in this collection.  It is a vintage-loving girls dream and it's accessible at your local mall (and their website is doing sales CONSTANTLY).  We loved that they offered petite sizing since Amanda is always having to hem and hack inches off of everything and I (Katie) actually ordered my dress in the petite sizing so it would be a little shorter.

For those of us who don't have smaller boutique clothing stores and rely heavily on online shopping, it was amazing getting to go and try things on at the mall that are actually super cute.  We recommend this line 100% and are already eyeing which of the new releases we are going to purchase.

Mule Heels in White - Pinup Girl Clothing | Heart + Arrow Brooch - Merriweather | Bracelets - Splendette
Garbo Turban + Lucille's Ball Purse - The Pink Collar Life

I'm always up for trying something new with my style or choosing something that's a total 180 of what I'd normally gravitate towards.  One of my favorite ways to change it up is by channeling the style of people I admire!  Though I'll never achieve Lauren Bacall status or be able to elegantly run in a pencil skirt like Marilyn, I occasionally like to pretend that I have an inner-vixen and pull out a pencil skirt.  I blogged a more winter-y version of this Vivien of Holloway pencil skirt a little while ago (post here) but, I was excited to wear this pretty pink one and pair it with a springy option, like this Gypsy Top and my Pink Collar Life accessories (which I need to break out more often because they are beautiful).

A little fit advice, I absolutely LOVE this gypsy top.  It's a light, unlined fabric but it was thick enough not to see my bra through (so long as my bra is white haha).  It has an elasticized waist (and does not have a side or back zipper, it just slips over your head).  I felt the elasticized waist actually helped keep the top tucked into my skirt, so I was stoked about that.  The skirt is a light, lined wool so while it may be a bit how for summer, I think it'll be great for all other seasons.  They run a bit snug though, so size up if you're on the line.

Safarai + Peachy

Amanda: Hannah Vintage Safari Dress c/o Sugarhill Boutique | Spencer Boater - Nasty Gal
Lollipop Mickey Brooch - Femme De Bloom | Mandalaye Flats - Amazon | Bracelets - Splendette

Katie:  Peachy Print Shift Dress c/o Sugarhill Boutique | Orange Hair Scarf - Vintage
Black Nana Heels - BAIT Footwear | Round Sunglasses - Belk | Yellow Crossbody Purse - Similar

Sometimes, you reach for a novelty print and then you realize that maybe it's not the best choice for the occasion.  I've definitely made the mistake of wearing a skirt with naked mermaids on it to work... luckily no one noticed but me; but, it makes you re-evaluate where you wear some of the prints that you have in your closet.  We couldn't pass up the opportunity to try out these new printed dresses from Sugarhill Boutique's Spring/Summer Collection.  Of course, anything peach print speaks to our souls and the safari print is so unique, you can definitely see the vintage influences in the design.  As for styling, we are firm believers that black + navy isn't necessarily a fashion "no" and Amanda paired her Safari Dress with a Lollipop Mickey Brooch because if reminded her of Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Edit: This is Amanda -- let's all wish my favorite muggle, best friend, significant other and better female half the best birthday. I love you so much, Katie. I wonder how long it'll take you to notice this is here...

Friday Favorites #60

Friday, April 22, 2016

1. Red Rose Dress  -  Meetyou
2. House of Playing Cards Purse  -  krukrustudio
3. Red Rose Brooch  -  Small Victories Made
4. Teapot Purse  -  krukrustudio
5. Painting the Roses Red  -  Tangerine Menagerie
6. Gingham Open Back Dress  -  Dollydripp

I was searching through my Etsy favorites and realized some of my favorite things recently had a decidedly Alice in Wonderland theme -- so I went with it!  I've been lusting after krukrustudio's bags for some time now but recently came across the House of Playing Cards and Teapot and thought they were too good NOT to share.  Also, how beautiful is this Red Rose Dress?!  I think they custom make to measure and adding a thick satin cummerbund style belt would almost make it look true vintage (they also have other cute things like this dress).  And of course, what's an outfit without brooch options, because you know we're addicted. ;)

The Original Espadrilles was one of those lucky finds that recently popped up in my Instagram feed.  I've always had a huge affinity for Espadrilles (they seem to be a southern summer staple) but haven't owned a pair since high school, I may need to snag some of those black ones, they look like they'd be really comfortable and would go with Pinup Girl Clothing's new Mary Blair pieces nicely.

The sweet ladies over at The Pink Collar Life have an Etsy shop now! If you've been waiting to buy something, you now have the ability to stick it in your favorites and stare longingly at it until you break down and buy things - like we do!

Bringing it back for a third time, we're continuing our trend of posting past, present or fictional fashion influences for Friday Favorites (our last choices were Dita Von Teese and Charlotte (Chuck) Charles from Pushing Daisies).  This week, we're going with another fictional character, Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood.  Sookie holds a special place in our hearts for several reasons: 1) before the show was on HBO, we'd been reading the original True Blood book series by Charlaine Harris and LOVED them  2) Sookie is hands down one of the fictional characters we see ourselves in most and find to be most relate-able  3) she is always serving southern charm and 4) she rocks a sundress like nobody's business.  Even if you have zero interest in the show, we couldn't recommend the books more if you like semi-cheesy, urban fantasy.  Or, if you love the show,  now that it's over if you need your fill, the books are an almost completely different story line (with the same characters), check them out!

GIVEAWAY // Doll Me Up in Gingham

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Katie:  Criss Cross Halter Top + Mid-Century BBQ Skirt + Countess Sunglasses c/o Doll Me Up
Apple Pie Brooch - Etsy | Sun Hat - Similar | Lace Up Oxfords - Vintage

On Monday we announced the delightful news that we were partnering with Doll Me Up to offer y'all the chance to win $100 in store credit (details at the bottom).  Doll Me Up is one of our favorite places to shop and $100 can get you a ton of different goodies.  So I have to confess something, I now own a dress and a skirt in the Mid-Century BBQ print.  I can't help it the skirt combines gingham + kitschy kitchen designs so it is right up my alley.  It's also the perfect skirt for all of the backyard BBQs I'll be attending...which is a lot, because Georgia loves their BBQ.  If you've never purchased a Bernie Dexter skirt I feel like they run a smidge smaller than the size chart so I went with a small to be on the safe-side and it fit great!

I spent last week in Austin, TX on a business trip, and now come to think of it this skirt would have been perfect for Austin paired with my vintage cowboy boots.  I spent a lot of time under fluorescent lights, but I did get to wear these great sunnies around town and they added a fun edge to some of my boring-business outfits.  I had a great time exploring the city and working, but I'm definitely happy to be home with my cats (and husband) watching Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.  Now to get to what you have been waiting for:

GIVEAWAY // Doll Me Up in Cherries

Monday, April 18, 2016

Amanda: Cherry Picking Dress + Tootsie Crop Cardigan + Countess Sunglasses c/o Doll Me Up
Straw Boater Hat - thrifted (similar) | Bakelite bangles - vintage | Red Ida Shoes - BAIT Footwear

We're bringing y'all our monthly Doll Me Up post but this time, with a little twist (past posts here)!  Katie + I are sharing our outfits separately this time and we have a really amazing giveaway for y'all for $100 in store credit (details further down the post).  I've had my eye on this Cherry Picking Dress since I saw it pop up online.  One of the post alluring things besides the adorable prints is, of course, the pockets.  I've always loved pockets but I find myself reaching for my dresses and skirts that don't have them less and less (and I've actually started taking them to my seamstress and having pockets added).

This was my last weekend until my midterms start so I took the opportunity to catch up on my favorite podcast, Welcome to Night Vale, and dress up in my newest, and maybe favorite, goodies from Doll Me Up.  The fit of the Cherry Picking Dress, which is Bernie Dexter's Paris style, is small in the bust and the waist runs a little big so you kinda need to order to accommodate your bust.  I paired it with my go-to Tootsie Crop Cardigan and some sunnies... which I admittedly wear over my normal glasses when I drive because I have no shame and have yet to purchase prescription sunglasses. And as for the giveaway...
