1960s Yellow Collared Dress c/o Mod & Fancy | Coke Flower Pin - Rosehound Apparel
Green Earrings - H&M | Blue Wedges - Modcloth | Derek Cardigan Glasses c/o Coastal.com

Sunday morning after drinking a few cups of coffee I decided that I should probably do something with my day.  I decided to run a few errands and stop by my local antique mall.  This antique mall is seriously huge, so it's an all day event for me to sift through everything.  It's definitely one of those places were 1/2 of the stuff is junk, 1/4 is over-priced and then 1/4 of it actually interests me.  I was going back to snag June and I matching vintage Minnie Mouse lunchboxes that I saw last time I was here, but sadly someone had bought them before I could get to them.  Total bummer!

Shift and mini dresses have always been my favorite style, but my hourglass figure (and my hips) just seem to 'flow' better with swing dresses.  It's difficult for me to find narrow dresses that fit my hips and my waist properly so I was pretty thrilled that this vintage 60s number from Mod & Fancy fit so well.  Mod & Fancy is a shop I've known about for a while, because it's owner Shannon has been one of my favorite Instagram ladies for a long while now.  Seriously, she's the cutest and girl can rock a mini-dress.

Striped early '60s Swing Dress - Mod & Fancy  |  Hansel Heels in Yellow c/o BAIT Footwear
Canvas Underskirt - Pinup Girl Clothing  |   Bakelite Bangles - Vintage  |  Blue Carved Bangle - Splendette
Glitter Heart Sunglasses - thrifted  |  Green Nylon Hair Scarf - vintage

My two week "summer break" from law school started this week... YAAASSSSS.  I'm enrolled in a non-traditional term since I work a full time job, and attend school at night, so I get winters off as opposed to summers... which is great for the holidays but little bit of a bummer.  On the other hand, it makes me love this two week break even more!  So, I set out for the day, grabbed an iced coffee with vanilla, went adventuring and stopped by the Nashville Tatyana Boutique to look at some pretties for an upcoming collaboration.

Also, this is our first time working with a vintage sponsor and I'm SO EXCITED!  I think my wardrobe is probably exactly 1/2 true vintage and 1/2 vintage reproduction, so when someone we actually KNEW contacted us to to tell us she'd opened a vintage Etsy shop called Mod & Fancy, I was stoked.  That someone is one of our online lady acquaintances, Shannon.  The queen of looking awesome in shift dresses, the best comic recommendations + fellow cute cat mom; I couldn't be happier to support her vintage sellin' endeavor.  This particular dress is circa the early '60s so I traded my normal red lipstick for a light pink and my normal short curls for long ones.  Dear '60s hair, I'm coming for you.

  4. Gorgeous! The problem I have with vintage is that when shopping in person, I can never find anything in decent condition :/ These dresses look brand spankin' new! So vibrant! I think I probably own one vintage dress and I have never worn it haha. Amanda, I love the slight changes to your makeup and hair, #flawless :P

  6. Oh dear lord, I LOVE June's dress. So much that I clicked over to Mod & Fancy and have several dresses in my cart already. :P

I have lots of vintage - it's probably 80% of my wardrobe. My favorite piece is probably the one in this post: https://colormebrazen.wordpress.com/2015/05/19/yellow-polka-dots-a-touch-of-scandal/

  7. I love these dresses so much! They are so darling! I'll have to check out Mod & Fancy and see if I can snag myself a cute dress. I don't own any vintage, yet, but I did snag a Barbie pink samsonite suitcase at Goodwill last week for $7! Such a steal. Have a fabulous day girl. Xo, Erica

  10. YES!! Capsule Vintage sells some absolutely beautiful thing! I always have the same feeling. It's really scary to know you could ruin something that has been around for 60 years.

  12. Shopping for vintage in person can def. be hard, because it's so hit or miss! This shop is great, because it's reasonably priced and it's so nice and maintained.

I told her the same thing! The pink lipstick is amazing on her!

I have some of my mum, aunt and gran's clothes from when they were young. My fave is a work dress of my gran's, however I cooked in it with out an apron on and now it has some stains. So sad. I don't wear vintage as much any more, just a hand full of old shirts.

  18. I noticed you've slimmed down a lot from running. Does that effect your corset wearing? I know the whole idea that it is suppose to be tight fitting, so is it something where you might have to buy a new one soon?

  19. I've actually stopped corseting for right now, I haven't been wearing one since probably late March. So any post/photo you've seen from then to now, has been sans corset. Since a lot of my corsets don't fit anymore due to my weight loss, in lieu of replacing them, I decided just to take a little break. <3

So much YES at what Katie wrote about shift/short dresses and her hips. I'm right there with you! I ADORE the way Amanda styled her outfit with the pink lips and the green head scarf. So perfect!! I also noticed the more relaxed hair and think it's the perfect final touch. I ended up buying the PUG underskirt per your recommendations, but I'm not quite feeling it. I'm not going to return it because I don't want to pay the shipping, so I'll have to make it work . It just sticks out in the front like I have a "happy" LOL so annoying!

  23. I can't get over how beautiful both of your dresses are! Thank you so much for introducing Mod & Fancy, (where I already shop too much) I am so excited to order a pretty piece!
