Fishin' Floats + Candy Shops

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Mine + Katie's adventures from last weekend continue!  We hopped in the car, put on our favorite pop punk playlist (we made for my bachelorette party last year) and drove the 30 minutes to our favorite dock in Augusta.  We both grew up fishing with our families all that time, so it's really nostalgic for both of us (also I think nothing makes our dads prouder than seeing us walk out the door with a tackle box and a fishing pole, even if we were a bit overdressed ; )).

When I saw the Grace Dress in Floats, I giggled to myself because it's the only dress I've ever seen with floats on it and I immediately fell in love.  The colors are seriously the EXACT colors of actual fishing floats and I remember looking in my dad's tackle box when I was younger thinking all the fake worms + fishing lures were the best colors, and here they are, on a dress!  The dress is fully lined (which is great because the fabric is light + light colored so you don't have to wear a slip, petticoat, etc. if you don't want to), it has pockets and a side zipper and the reason I mention that is because the dress is REVERSIBLE!  The 'V' in the back can also be worn in the front!

Amanda + I also visited my favorite candy shop this weekend, Cyndi's Sweet Shoppe.  I work right down the street from this adorable, little retro candy store so it's a place I visit pretty frequently.  I mean, how else am I going to get through a 9 hour shift without sugar?!  Not to mention, I'm notorious for having an intense sweet tooth.  So every week or so I go and stock up on my favorite flavors of jelly bellys, which are peach and watermelon..just fyi. ;)

When I saw the Sweetshop dress I knew I had to have it, because the print is just too perfect to pass up on.  The print alone is fantastic, but the quality of dress is top-notch.  I usually HATE side zipper dresses, but this zipper gave me no problems and didn't make my blood boil.  The sash is also double sided and features more candy jars on one side or little flowers on the side I decided to wear it.   I also loved that I got to wear a candy print dress in my favorite candy store wearing a brooch for my favorite fictional candy shop, Honeydukes.

  3. I love these prints! It's so funny how they look like something different from far away. I can just imagine y'all dictating your weekend activities around what prints are on your dress ("Oh nooo looks like we need to go to the candy store- tragedy!") :P

Reversible dresses are genius and the prints are so unique! I love dresses like that. I'll take any jelly belly that isn't black licorice. Speaking of jelly's, I've been eating Jelly Babies all week. Do you guys like those too? I know The Doctor does. :D

  8. Sensationally cute dresses, ladies. These are honestly some of the loveliest and most creative novelty prints I've ever seen, let alone in the 21st century. Talk about a brand with some epic wishlist items!
