Atomic Swag: The Lone Star State of Texas

Monday, March 16, 2015

Before I had the money to start buying vintage and vintage-inspired dresses I would always try to fit vintage style into my wardrobe.  That meant I spent a lot of time thrifting looking for pieces that I could work into my wardrobe.  That being said, I grew to really love the fun, classic look of vintage tees.  My favorite thing about vintage tees has to be the kitschy designs.  My heart beat a little bit faster when I saw this Texas State Tee by Atomic Swag, which is based off of a vintage tee design.  It's also printed on the softest t-shirt that I've ever worn!

I haven't bought jeans in a really, really long time y'all.  This isn't because I hate jeans, but it's mostly because I have a really hard time finding jeans that I like.  I eventually need to 'bite the bullet' and order some online especially since there are so many great places to buy vintage inspired jeans now.  A few weeks ago I got brave and ventured to the mall to try on pants.  I went to SO many stores, and eventually ended up at my old favorite store, Pacsun.  Growing up I only bought my jeans at Pacsun so although these aren't my favorite pair of pants they aren't too bad.  Sometimes it's nice to just have the ease of throwing on jeans.

Where are your favorite jeans from?

  1. Very cute! I too share an aversion to pants so I commend this adorable effort!

  2. My favorite jeans are from buiyahkah. Those jeans fit me perfectly their not big in the waist, they hug my hips, SO comfortable. With some jeans I have to take them off as soon as I get home but i can leave these on all day. I'm starting to only buy jeans with a high cotton content and those are 99% Cotton 1% spandex.

  3. You're the perfect rodeo babe in this outfit, Katie. The jeans are a nice change :) Thinking of you with every George song <3
P.s. Dear Creatures has some really nice looking high waisted jeans you may wanna check out. I just wasn't ready to pay $100 for them, but I keep trying my luck on eBay. *fingers crossed*

I live in T-shirts with my favorite bands and super hero's on my off days. I agree with you on pants, I have a hard time finding jeans until one day I was randomly shopping at Walmart and finally found jeans that fit since I am so short http://www.walmart.com/ip/23964894?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedItemId=23964903&adid=22222222227023900649&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40882881032&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78814366352&veh=sem
I've worn these pants for years and they are so comfortable and I love the price too.

That is a great shirt! I could totally see me wearing it. For the past few years I've been wearing Matchstick Jeans from J Crew, but I've been getting them at the outlet mall, and they don't carry tall lengths so I have to cuff them at the bottom to make it look like a style choice that they are too short! I'd like a high waisted pair os some sort soon. Maybe some skinny ones again.

  7. Thank you for doing this outfit! I think we vintage girls sometimes forget that we can be casual and be comfortable in jeans and look super adorable too!

  8. Cute outfit! I love seeing these casual vintage looks, somedays you just don't feel like wearing a dress and all the layers that go with it. Those jeans and shoes are also amazing.

  9. You wear vintage tees so well!

I love the casual nature of them ~ They look casual and yet playful too. It's hard to find tshirts now a days that offer that same kind of beauty!

    Lovely, lovely.

  10. What a fun, adorable outfit! Jeans, and pants in general, and I have a luke warm relation in general, and were it not for my beloved offerings from Freddies (denim) and Heyday (swing trousers), I honestly don't know if I'd own more than one or two pairs of pants. It's not an easy thing for many of us to find and I wish you luck in your ongoing search.

  11. How did you ladies find the sizing to be on these tees? Still being fairly fresh to this whole post-baby bod thing, I'm still adjusting to my new measurements, and nervous to order anything online yet. haha

  12. Hi Caitlyn,

The sizing is pretty accurate to their sizing chart. It can be found here: http://www.atomicswag.com/sizing/ It has some stretch to it, but not too much! Don't be nervous! I'm sure your post-baby bod is ready for some online purchases! ;) If you order something be sure to comment a picture here when you get it!

  13. Thank you Jessica! They are definitely not my favorite thing--I think it's just a hard adjustment! I really need to try some Freddies, but I'm unsure if they'll look good on me. Thank you so much! I hope I can get lucky and find the jeans of my dream!

  14. Thank you Amy!

I agree--I love that it's super casual, but it still looks put together. Atomic Tees offers such great shirts that are the perfect blend of casual, comfy and amazing! I really love their selection.

  15. Thanks Lisa! I love having an alternative look to dresses and skirts. You're completely right, that jeans are a great casual vintage look and they are so much easier to throw on when I'm in a hurry!

  16. You're so right, Nora! These definitely are the pair of jeans of my dreams, but for now they'll do. I think having a pair of jeans in my wardrobe is going to let me be more creative with my outfits too!

  17. I'm going to keep looking at different jeans so hopefully my search can help you too! It's so hard to find the perfect pair of jeans. It sounds like you were super resourceful though! I wouldn't have thought about cuffing them to make the length look intentional.
