Mickey 'Mooners: June + Collin's Disney World Honeymoon

Monday, February 2, 2015

I've shared a little bit of my wedding so far (SO MANY PHOTOS, more posts to come!)  Collin + I got married back in September but because we both have semi-demanding 9-5's and I had finals, we decided to hold off on our honeymoon for a while.  Our honeymoon was actually a gift from my new in-laws (what a gift!) and we waited around eagerly for a chance to finally be able to go.  After some thought and talking to some friends who used to be Disney Castmembers, we decided late January would be the perfect time for us to sneak away and finally take our trip, here's a little peek at our adventures:

We had so much fun park hopping, exploring, figuring out how in the hell to use our MagicBands and buying a shit ton of Vinylmation (Collin already has a pretty intense collection).  If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen some of these photos and you might be looking for our trips to 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Dine-In.  You'll be able to find those on the blog on Friday, I was so in love with both restaurants that I went a little photo crazy.

I had SO MUCH FUN, I'll admit, I'm a LITTLE bit of a Harry Potter fanatic (and by a little bit I mean it's part of the reason Amelia + I bonded, it's tattooed on my body and I have an addiction) so Hogwarts will always be my home (last trip here), but I'm SO glad I got to experience Disney with Collin for the first time in about 20 years... it was a truly amazing experience.

What did you do for your honeymoon or where would you go?
If you have any questions about our trip, ask away!

  1. Love the pics and the outfits! How did wearing the black and white stripes to the park go? I have been wanting to wear something similar but am nervous about the white getting quickly dirty.

  2. Looks like a wonderful time!! Loved all your outfits, especially the character skirts. We were on a bit of a budget when we went on our honeymoon in August of 2008 so we drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco to visit the city and enjoy foodie treats. We have gone on subsequent trips other places since then, we still enjoyed our time on our honeymoon even though it wasn't the tropical vacation we hoped to have.

How did you take your pictures while traveling? Did you use a tripod or kind strangers to take them for you?

  8. Oh and for my honeymoon my husband Paul & I went to Palm Springs for a friends weekend long wedding who I met on Instagram! We then stayed back at their family home in San Diego for the rest of the trip which was amazing!! We got married in June 2013 and moved our honeymoon forward to September especially so we could merge their wedding and our honeymoon together :)

  15. I simply adore seeing people showing off their Disney holidays! As an Australian it's a bit harder to get over there, but I love living vicariously through everyone else! Also looking through the comments, I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered about who took the photos haha.
You two are so adorable and I'm so in love with your honeymoon, I'm so glad you had a wonderful time xx

  16. You guys look like you had a lot of fun. OMG your skirts are adorable! Me and my hubby are thinking about going to Disney this summer, you have any suggestions on planning a Disney trip and what should be on ones must see/do list?

  17. For everyone that is wondering about a Disneyland or Disneyworld trip, I highly recommend the website mousesavers.com; there is a ton of information over there. I am not an employee of that site or anything, but I live 3 miles from Disneyland and I've been to Disneyworld 12 times and to all the other Disney parks except Hong Kong, so I've planned a lot of Disney trips and I consider myself a Disney expert. There is a ton of information at that site and tons of information about discounts.

About Memory Maker - I think it's worth it if you 1) love to pose for photos and 2) are going to be there for more than 3 days. If you want to run to every ride and standing in line for photos is not your thing, then just ask nice strangers to take photos. Memory Maker is about $140 if you buy in advance, so you want to get your money's worth and get at least 30 good photos, IMO. I've gotten more than 100 photos over 7 days, so it was certainly worth it to me!

  18. Hope at DisneylandFebruary 3, 2015 at 1:26 AM

I'm so glad that you shared some pics and that you had a great honeymoon. We didn't have a honeymoon per se. Since we had a wedding at Disneyland we just ended up with what we called a "mini moon" there a few days after. We had planned to visit Disney World at some point, but it still hasn't happened. Anyway, I love that you took a lot of your PUG skirts to Disney. It's the perfect place! Where did you get the adorable dwarf print skirt?!?? Also, how did you do weather-wise/walking-wise in your outfits? I'm use to going to Disneyland in cute clothes regularly since it's a smaller park, but I don't know how I would do to pack them and wear them at Disney World with the weather and all the walking.

  19. Dan and I decided that for our honeymoon we would do a "bucket list" trip... so at the end of March we are headed to Peru to visit Machu Picchu! Because of the weather and being busy, the honeymoon is happening 4 months *before* the wedding... but we don't really care about being proper or anything. Whatever works for us, right?

  20. Hello, I'm sure you covered this question before, but what brand corset do you wear?

  21. Oh my goodness, your skirts are so fabulous! Congratulations on your wedding!
I have no idea yet where I'm going on my honeymoon, but my fiancé proposed to me in the sahara desert, I'm not sure how we're going to top that!

  23. I love Disney so I was excited that was where you chose for your honeymoon. You two look so cute (as always) and it seems like you had a lot of fun. Also Sci-Fi Dine In and 50s Prime Time are amazing so I'm so glad you went picture crazy because I wish I took more photos in both of them.

  28. When I went during the off season they had a special where if you did a 5 night package (stay at the resort and have tickets but you didn't need tickets for every day) you got a free meal plan. It included 2 meals ,which all had drinks and dessert, and a snack per day plus a refillable drink cup for the resort. I saved so much money on food and was always full!
