Friday Favorites #40

Friday, January 9, 2015

It's Friday Favorites time again!  It's 7 degrees (literally) in Nashville this weekend so my desire to curl up on the couch with a book + a cup of coffee // tea is driving the whole first portion of this post.... well actually, the majority of this post.  Instead of hibernating for the weekend, I'm heading South to visit Amelia in Augusta.  I haven't seen her since November so I'm pretty stoked, we have quite a busy weekend planned but we're going to try to FINALLY take time to watch Doctor Who.   ((For fellow Whovians  // We've been putting off watching 11 regenerate for about a million years now... and I think the time has finally come. God help us.))

I've been spending my weekends off waking up a lot earlier than I normally do now that daylight savings is in SUPER full swing and it gets dark here at 4:30 pm.  Usually, I wander around with a cup of coffee, in my robe and I catch up on my blog reading (of other people's blogs).  My current favorite mug is this red + floral mug I thrifted from Salvation Army.  However, I fucking love novelty mugs. I love them.  I actually have the TARDIS and Donut mugs but once I started lurking around I found so many good ones, I had to share them all with y'all!  I think the Home Sweet Home Camper and Happy Camper are going to be my next purchases.

I hadn't lurked the eShakti website for a while, but I happened to stumble onto it the other day and found SO MANY NEW THINGS including a dress that I'd been hoping they'd restock for an incredibly long time, this Colorful Twill Check Dress.  I snagged that one and the Parrots + Lemons Dress which for some reason reminded me of Dita Von Teese.  She always has the best prints and some of her "out shopping, casual outfits" are my absolute favorites, this sort of looks like one of those.  If y'all want a promo code for $30 off your eShakti order, comment your email below.

I came across this awesome photo on Tumblr and after some research, came across the blog of Eline Pellinkhof.  Her cross stitch murals (there are multiple ones on her blog) are SO lovely and such a minimalistic but unique + colorful way to do something with otherwise stark walls.  I'm sort of wondering now if this is something I'd be able to undertake somewhere in our home, I need to start looking up good cross stitch patterns!

So, after snagging myself a new mug, I couldn't help by start pursuing Adagio Teas.  I'm sure some of you remember our little tea giveaway from a couple months ago and I've been picking up tea every now + again to keep around since.  I think my next purchase will be one of these fandom samplers from three of my favorite things.  It'll probably be the Harry Potter one, but I'm also intrigued by this Birthday Tea!  It has vanilla cream + caramel teas with actual rainbow sprinkles in it!  If you decide to order some, input 6178892013 for $5 off your order.

So let it be said, that I have NEVER IN MY LIFE been more tempted to spend $28 on a tiny hoodie. After some googling, and recognizing that forest green + white zipper combo from 2008 , I hit the "adorable hoodies for pets" mother-load.  American Apparel is apparently the place to go if you want a cute hoodie for your pet AND you don't have to pull it over their head, they're aimed at dog owners but apparently, this cat is plenty stoked on his hoodie.... I wonder if I could get Lady Thackery Binx to wear one because this forest green one + this red one are ADORABLE.

  2. I start my days out with tea also! I actually just received some awesome tea from my friend in England. She said the stuff we have over here is crap haha. As far as mugs, I have two hedgehogs as pets so hedgie mugs are ever present in my small collection. I think I'm up to 4 now.

  5. Oh my god, I can only imagine how much better the tea is there. How's your new tea!? What sort is it? Maybe I need to start having tea imported. haha.

  6. RIGHT?! I bet mine would come out completely shitty because I have the artistic talent of a preschooler. But, you never know until you try! haha.

And I seriously think Binx needs it. When I told Collin about it he said it cost as much as a people hoodie so she probably didn't need... duly noted... BUTTTT..... lol

  7. The tea is called "PG tips" it's a black tea and apparently they only use the top two leafs for the tea because they're the most flavorful. She urged me to give it a splash of milk and a little sugar if I preferred and let me tell you, YES. So much yes.

Ooohh please let me know if you find any! I got the one pictured from my brother's girlfriend for my birthday last year. If i'm not mistaken it was from Marshall's or Ross.

    Enjoy your weekend!! <3

  9. I love that mural. I enjoy cross stitching so it's right up my alley. I've been lusting over some amazing cross stitch tattoos lately. Next tattoo will either be cross stitch or crochet, so hard to choose.

  16. Aww thank you so much, I'm so happy your found us! And that's going to be so much fun! I recommend The Hip Zipper and Katy K's Ranch Dressing for vintage (Katy K's also sells some reproduction wear so it's the best of both worlds) and then head over to Pre to Post Modern (they have vintage houseware + vintage clothing). It's right by a few adorable antique stores as well. <3

    Also, coupon code sent!

  28. I didn't realize it got that cold in Nashville! I've only been to Tennessee once, for about ten minutes. I drove over the boarder and mailed a card so I could cross one more state off my list- but I'd love to go back!
How do you wear skirts and dresses in that cold? Do you have some good tights/socks recommendations?
Also, where is your robe from?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love that octopus mug so much. Wish I could get one but I'll feel kinda silly just drinking water from one haha.

That Colorful Twill Check Dress is my favorite! I love the color combo. :D

  30. Mugs and tea are two of my favourite things. I haven't tried Adagio yet, my cupboard is mostly stocked with David's Tea.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh it gets quite cold! haha. Tennessee is a fun place to visit, Nashville and Memphis are my personal favorites.

I usually just throw on some tights (sometimes I even double them up) and throw on a peacoat over whatever I have on and deal with it. lol. If it's snowy, I wear knee socks over the tights with some Wellies and that gets me through winter.

Also, it's part of another post that's coming up ; ) But, I'll be linking it then. <3

  32. Haha, you've got toe surrender to the silly! It's nice to wake up and have a laugh to start the day. Some of my coffee mugs are flat our ridiculous.
