Floral + Flamingos

c/o Betty Boop glasses

I'm notorious for being extremely lazy on Sundays.  I generally reserve Sundays for making french toast for brunch and then I do nothing until The Walking Dead comes on.  So after June and I had busy weekend, all I wanted to do was be lazy.  She managed to motivate me to get dressed and go to the park...which didn't take too much motivation since the park is one of my favorite places.

Sometimes pastels and coordinating colors just work, and this outfit is an example of that.  I generally avoid things that are 'too match-y', but I loved that these pieces all look like they were meant to go together.  I also love anything with flamingos or as I like to call them 'mingos.  These amazing jelly shoes were the perfect final touch to this bright outfit, and it was a great send-off to warmer weathers.

After a weekend of running around like crazy people, Amelia + I grabbed $10 worth of entertainment in the form of nail polish + lemonade and headed over to our favorite park to listen to Brand New on Spotify and relax (99% of the time we're the only people there so we don't feel guilty blaring Jesse Lacey).  The predominate motivation for the nail polish purchase being that we noticed that we still had on the toe nail polish we wore in my wedding *embarrassed face*.

Like Amelia, I'm not normally a very "matchy" kinda gal but I absolutely love this outfit.  My bangs are still at a pretty awkward stage that requires a shit ton of bobby pins for every style, so I love mixing it up every now + again by using scarves instead of flowers or... my new collection.. HATS!  You'll be seeing some of those soon!  Also, we've matched to find, what is potentially, the only comfortable pair of jelly shoes ever made and I've been wearing these Gold Glitter Jellies to death while it's been weather permitting.  Sadly, it's 20 degrees now so I think that time is over.

We received these items in a wonderful care package from Tracey at Stars and Swallows, we'd each chosen a cardigan and were overwhelmed by her generosity as she also included these lovely dresses, scarves + the little flamingo swizzle sticks. We don't normally walk around looking like pinup versions of the twins from The Shining, but since we were together we figured why the f*ck not.  No regrets.  I love how everything matched perfectly but only the dresses are the same brand.  Gotta love retro color palettes!

Are you more of a "matchy" kinda lady or a mix 'n' match kinda gal?

  1. I like to think I'm a matchy and mix n max kind of gal. Those jelly shoes take me back to when I was kid and I really want to own myself a pair right now!!!

  2. Haha! So funny that you mentioned the twins from the Shining! I totally opened this post and thought, "man, could these two be any more like floral twins?" So I didn't exactly think "creepy" but we both had a twins idea ;)

  3. Those outfits are adorable and I have been imagining the green Tilly in my closet for months! Flamingoes are awesome too.

I wouldn't say that I get too matchy but I do like to pull a color from either a print in my outfit and run with it or try and do monochromatic things with my shoes and cardis.

  7. She just replied that it's case sensitive so make sure that you're using all caps! Just in case she's going to go in and add some other capitalization variants of the word. <3

  8. Hi There! The code was PEACHES - so is case sensitive. I have now added Peaches and peaches - so any of those three should work! Thanks so much for your interest in our website!

  10. You both look absolutely amazing! I especially love the dresses and cardigans. I love wearing anything flamingo, and I call them 'mingos, too! :)

  11. You both look gorgeous in those outfits, even though I'm not sure about the jelly shoes ;)

I tend to go for matchy-matchy stuff (it's generally easier, building up a matching wardrobe I guess?), but sometimes it's nice to add in a little something contrasting too.

  12. Adorably fun! I love everything about the ensembles and the day. I extra adore June's dress because I have on a Jamberry nail print right now called Cup of Tea that is almost identical in print.

  15. You both look lovely (as usual)! I really love flamingos, so I'm coveting both those cardigans now ^___^ I'm quite matchy-matchy, but I'm trying to curb those impulses because it means that sometimes my outfits can look very monochrome! If you wear colours though (which I am not so good at ...) then I think matching can look really good!

  16. Flamingos are the best!! I need to make myself wear more black..but I just love bright colors so much. haha I'm sure you rock the a monochrome look though! Black monochrome always looks so classic to me.

  20. haha They're seriously the best jelly shoes ever! I would never endorse any other jelly shoes based on my memory from my childhood, but these are so comfy.

You always look so adorable, matchy-matchy or contrasting. ;)

  25. Thank you so much Gina! The green Tilly is beyond amazing, I swear.

That's such a good approach to style! Shoes and Cardi's are both such a good way to add a monochromatic detail to an outfit.
