Peachy Keen

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

It's probably glaringly obvious by now, but we are both 'Georgia Peaches' and proud.  That's why when we saw Luxulite announce on her Instagram that she was making a batch of peach brooches we were both ecstatic and we received a stream of DM's from people equally excited as we were that these were released.

I'm a sucker for anything peach-themed so that + my love for Luxulite combined was pure bliss for me.  I knew to expect the same amazing quality that Katy of Luxulite always produces--what I didn't expect is that the peach brooch would be so large!  This brooch is really a statement peach...piece, statement piece.  The bright confetti sparkles of my peach brooch really added some much needed color to this otherwise slightly boring green vintage dress.  I keep this dress strictly because the tiny matching belt fits. Also, I drive past this puke orange wall every day on the way to work and I eventually had a reason to pose in front of it.

Jumbo Georgia Peach Brooch (non-confetti) c/o Luxulite

I got this dress on super sale from Modcloth (god only knows I couldn't afford the original, $300+ price tag) and even though it gives me awkward arm fat (oh well, arm fat happens) I love the shit out of it.  It's incredibly comfortable, the neckline is uunique and it has pockets!  I broke it out because what better to go with my new peach brooch than a cherry dress. It's sort of an outfit fruit salad.  It's a pretty busy dress so usually I throw on some pearls knowing most of my brooches would get lost amongst the pattern, but a brooch this size + color scheme was the perfect compliment.  Also, I think I may have contracted malaria while taking these photos in my back yard. So. Many. Mosquitoes.

Katy was AMAZING enough to provide us with a promo code for y'all!  From now until September 25th use promo code JBGP0914 and get 10% your order!   We saw some amazing, envy-inducing collections when we asked this last time, so we'll ask again...

Do you own any Luxulite pieces or have a collection? If so, post photos! We'd love to see!

  2. I don't own any yet, but I spotted a bluebird and it brought a tear to my eye. Have you guys watched Disney's The rescuers. It was a childhood fave of mine. The scene where Rufus the Cat tells Penny the orphan about the bluebird : Faith is a bluebird, we see from far. It's for real and as sure as the first evening star, you can't touch it, or buy it, or wrap it up tight, but it's there just the same, making things turn out right. I think I need that brooch :)

  5. I don't have any Luxulite, but I'm definitely going to at least browse now ;) A girl can never have too many accessories, especially when a) there's a rather large accessory deficit; and b) there's a discount code :)

  6. Perfect brooches on you both! Hehe. <3 I don't own any Luxulite either, but it's definitely on my wish list of things to start hoarding. ;) MWUAHAHAHAAAA

  7. I immediately thought of you ladies when she posted about these brooches! I only have a few pieces from her, but I constantly lurk her etsy, tempted to buy more. Also I just ordered a new bananas one with the discount code!

  8. I just ordered my first one last week! I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. The back part is gold and the hanging bead cherry looking things are black. My hunny's sister is having a theme party for her birthday and it goes with the color scheme and its just perfect! I can't wait for its arrival. I've also been coveting the pumpkin ones but I always miss when she posts them!

  9. Awesomely pretty brooches! Peaches are one of the largest and most iconic crops of the Okanagan region of British Columbia, where I live, so these stellar pins would be super at home here as well.

  15. She restocks pretty often so I'd keep my eye out, I think that's why she extended the code out so far. I've been lurking her shop a lot to pick something up myself too. haha

  16. Have you managed to snatch one up yet?! I love your collection, it's absolutely envy-inducing! I've been wanting one of the ones she used to make with the vintage wood looking beads, etc. I might try to custom order one!

  17. Oh! You should! I love mine and while I know the color peach doesn't match everything, I've found myself sticking it on what I'm wearing a lot.haha

  18. Oh! I've never seen the bluebird one! I absolutely love The Rescuers, I watched it a lot growing up, especially The Rescuers Down Under! That's so sweet, I'd forgotten about that! I think you definitely need it <3

  19. I always envy those bowling pins and for some reason, always end up choosing the more atomic looking ones instead. They're so cute. I always like the little things she does with matches as well!

  20. Hahahaha, you only need ONE to start an addiction! I tend to order them when I have an outfit that I have NO idea how to accessorize. <3

  21. I have a complete accessory deficit and these brooches have started filling the void. Actually, most of my accessories are either stockings or brooches. haha. I might use the discount code to pick something up for myself as well.

  22. OH!!!! If you have a photo of them you should post it, I always love seeing which ones people have chosen! I want one of the ones she used to make with the faux coconut wood looking beads! So cute!

  23. Oh, I had no idea! It looks like Georgiaians aren't the only one with claim to peaches, how interesting! Maybe you'll eventually end up with a peach pin (vintage or otherwise) of your own <3

  28. I'm glad I'm not the only gal with an accessory deficit - though I rectified that by adding one of Katy's brooches and a pair of earrings too; and this week I've picked up another four brooches from a boutique in the town where I work. I've just seen on IG that Katy will be listing more items on Sunday, so I'm definitely going to check those out and see if I can add anything else ;)

  29. ok, i never tire of seeing the two of you get all snazzy and dressy--even if you technically aren't! there is a lack of gals dressing the way you both do and you both dress awesomely! both of your dresses are cool and i love the brooches!

  30. Just in case anyone is checking this post, the Luxulite shop was re-stocked this morning! No peaches unfortunately, but lots of awesome Halloween inspired pieces and some great classic color combinations. I bought 2 brooches and used the discount code, so so excited to get them!
