June's February Outfit Round-Up: Pinup Girl Clothing, Bettie PageClothing, Bernie Dexter + More!

Saturday, March 1, 2014

You may or may not know this about Junebugs and Georgia Peaches, but fashion is the entire reason Amelia and I started blogging!  One of my friends + instagram followers offered to design a blog for us so I'd have a forum to post my outfits and as you've seen, vintage/retro fashion + style tips and tricks are interwoven in almost all of our posts in some way or another, but we very infrequently do actual outfit posts.

I saw that Lauren at Someone Like You does outfit roundups at the end of each month and I thought, this is such a good idea!  I LOVE THOSE POSTS! While the majority of my outfit photos are taken for my instagram I thought this might motivate me to move some of that towards the blog and would love to hear your feedback about it!

Sorry about the mass amount of mirror selfies! My house has terrible lighting so sometimes taking pictures in the mirror is way easier then setting my phone in it's tripod and snapping a photo. My goal this month was to 1) try to wear my hair in more ways than one, because I have a tendency to wear my hair the same way e-v-e-r-y day and 2) to wear my corset every day and believe it or not, I actually did quite well with both!  I'm totally guilty of snapping photos of my torso when I do outfit posts so I can see my tightlacing progress (more about tightlacing here) as you can see below.

Lauren usually includes her favorite and least favorite outfits of the month and I'm going to have to say I didn't really have a least favorite.  HOWEVER, any day where my hair ends up a little TOO curly is a bad day for this lady no matter what I'm wearing.  But, I'll end this post with my favorite of the month had one of my favorite outfits overall.

What do you think about outfit round-up?
What does your favorite outfit look like/consist of?

  2. Such a lovely way to document the month. I guess in the future you can then link back the post where said outfit was featured.
I was so excited to find you on Instagram and even more excited to read your blog. I've just caught up on you last few posts ;) (I'm so behind on my blog reading)

  5. I loved this post! Such fabulous outfits! No shame in mirror shots either, most of my photos are taken that way, too. We work with what we've got, right?

  12. Where on earth is that honey bee blouse from? Love it!

  13. That Bee blouse is A-DORABLE! I am pretty partial to anything with a bow neck, though!

  17. Bravo! I love every one of these outfits but the bee top is KILLING ME. Pea green with jealousy. I am guilty of a hairstyle rut! It's either down or pinned up in a Heidi braid coronet (mainly because "down" or "this one braid style" are all I know how to do...expand your repertoire, Lisa!). It was great meeting you the other day at Gray's!! :D

  18. Love this idea!!! Last year I did a monthly recap post at the end of each month in which I briefly highlighted several of my favourite blog posts (including outfit ones) that I'd written that month, but I've never solely devoted an end-of-the-month post to what I wear. I usually do a photo shoot for most of my outfits on the days when my health lets me get out of the house, so I wouldn't have many more to pad such a post out with beyond what already appears on my site (and Instagram) throughout the month. If I did though, I'd totally follow your lead and launch my own series like.

*PS* It was splendidly nice of one your followers to offer to create a site for you gals. Wow!!!

  20. Well thank you! I will definitely do that! It'll be a lot of fun to look back at my monthly outfits every month! : )

    ReplyDelete
  21. The only reason I didn't do that is because we don't really do fashion blogging, so they were never featured in a post haha, They're on my instagram though!

And oh! I'm so glad you found us and so flattered you read back a little! I just started following you on Bloglovin' and can't wait to read!

  22. Thank you maa'am! I had so much fun doing this! It'll be making a return!

  23. Aww well thank you, ladybird! I agree, sometimes it's just easier to stand in front of the mirror to snap photos! haha. As long as people don't mind looking at my selfies, I'll keep sharin'!

  24. Oh, we're so glad you found us! And thank you so much for the sweet compliment! I plan on continuing to do more outfit posts! : )

  25. Aww well thank you! And building one for me was just a matter of picking things I LOVED and hoarding them forever haha

    ReplyDelete
  26. Awww well thank you! And that is such a compliment! I aim for looking put together but with school and work, usually just look frazzled lol.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Awww, I love hearing that you picked favorites, so interesting to know who liked which things! And yes, it is! It's actually a top and skirt set! : )

And that watermelon top is about 7 years old now! lol, I actually can't believe it's still holding up so well! Also, a watermelon bikini top sounds ADORABLE!

    ReplyDelete
  28. It was made by Heart of Haute clothing! : ) I think they only have it left in blue though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well than you, I was so excited to find it bows + bees... can it get better? I love bow necks too, even though I'm possibly the worst bow tie-er of all time haha

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, you totally should! I would LOVE to see you do a roundup! Especially because you have actual posts to link back to haha.

And thank you! You can actually still probably find both on eBay if you look ; )

  31. Well thank you, Natalie! I believe the amazing feedback has officially made me decide to continue them! <3

  32. Well thank you Delores! : ) Can't wait to share next month's already! : )

  33. Oh lord, trust me, I am seriously AWFUL at hair.... I must just be good at photographing it well haha. And thank you. : )

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well thank you! The bee top was purchased on one of those *buy before midnight for half off* sales and I almost didn't buy it! GLAD I DID! haha

And trust me, I am in a perpetual hair rut, and that is also because I am terrible at hair. I can 1) curl it or 2) throw it on top of my head lol. Basically that's it.

And it was so nice running in to you too! It was so nice putting faces and personalities (in real life) with all the blogs I read! : )

  35. I love the idea of a general monthly recap! I spend so much time messing with my Instagram, don't ask me why haha, that I have a surplus of outfit photos at the end of the end of the month, I don't feel like we post on the blog enough to do a monthly recap... or maybe we do.. I'm so new at this, I'm not quite sure.

I love all your posts so much, I feel like all of the content is so interesting and appealing to so many different types of readers, your posts are seriously my goal.

And yes, she was SO awesome to do so, she was from my home town so she met us at a coffee shop for the install and everything. So awesome!
